Мама умела искать и находить таланты, и талантливые люди тянулись к ней. В
этой тоненькой книжке Маргариты Генкиной (1927-2025), профессионального
журналиста с 70-летним стажем работы, портреты-судьбы трех людей.

Виктор Данилов («Самый Юный Поэт России») юнга корабля приходил в
редакцию газеты «Страж Балтики» со своими стихами. Он трагически погиб
в день своего двадцатилетия… Мама всю жизнь считала своим моральным и
профессиональным долгом привлечь к нему внимание читателей.
Елена Мешкова («Элка-Светлячок»), заменившая убитого на ее глазах
командира стрелковой роты на Ленинградском фронте во время блокады
(41-43 годы), в 70-е годы работала комендантом заводского общежития. Она
стала заходить в редакцию газеты «Электросила» поделиться наболевшими
проблемами. Ее живые рассказы становились сюжетами злободневных
материалов литсотрудника газеты М.Генкиной. Когда же она поделилась
своими стихами и фронтовыми воспоминаниями, мама предложила ей их
опубликовать. «Что ты, Риточка, я же неграмотная, в каждом слове –
ошибки». Они долго работали вместе, прежде чем Елена Николаевна
отнесла рукописи в редакцию журнала, и это повернуло ее судьбу.
Кирилл Килпалин («Художник Камчатки»). Молодой охотник-каряк
прислал из больницы в редакцию газеты «Камчатская правда» тетрадку
своих рисунков-иллюстраций вместе с народными сказаниями. Мама по
поручению редакции при возвращении на «Большую Землю» (отца перевели
на другое место службы) передала эту тетрадь известному художнику
Е.Лебедеву, а тот в Русский Музей в Ленинграде (к сожалению, эту тетрадь
позднейшим исследователям найти не удалось). Публикация М.Генкиной и
И.Стеблича «Художник с далекой Камчетки» в «Комсомольской правде» в
1956 году с иллюстрациями из этой тетради была первой. Кирилл Килпалин,
впоследствии (в основном, посмертно) знаменитый художник стал героем и
символом Камчатской земли…
В конце каждого очерка книги «Самородки» приведено много стихов и картин
их героев. На обложке Мама написала: «Время не имеет значения для
подлинных произведений искусства», мне кажется, это вполне относится и к
этой книге…

Annotation to the book “Samorodki” - Precious Nuggets (in Russian)
My mother knew how to search for and find talents. And talented people had been attracted to
her. This slim book written by Margarita Genkina (1927-2025) professional journalist of 70 years
of experience, offers essays of three personal life stories.
Victor Danilov (“The Youngest Russian Poet”), the ship boy, who kept bringing his poetry
to the “Baltic Guard” editorial office. He tragically died on his twentieth birthday… Mom took
upon herself and considered it her moral and professional duty to make him known to the
reader.
Yelena Meshkova (“Elka-Svetlyachok” (Ella- firefly)) during Leningrad Siege in 1941-43 the
rifle brigade commander was killed right before her eyes. She took on his duties. In 1970s she
worked as a factory dormitory commandant. She would come to the “Electrosila” newspaper
editorial office to share her pressing issues. Her animated narratives were picked by the
journalist M. Genkina and turned into the top stories. But once she shared her poetry
and memoirs, Mom offered to publish them. She exclaimed, “Ritochka, what are you talking
about, I’m illiterate, I make mistakes in every word!” For a long time, they worked together
with Yelena Nikolayevna to present her manuscript before Journal’s editorial. That actually
turned her life around.
Kirill Kilpalin (“The Artist of Kamchatka”), a young karyak hunter, sent his notebook of
illustrations along with the folk tales from the hospital to the “Kamchatskaya Pravda”
newspaper. At that time, our family was about to move to the “Main Land” (my father was
transferred to serve on the Baltic Sea). On behalf of the editorial board, my mother handed this
notebook over to the famous artist E. Lebedev, who, in turn, handed it over to the Leningrad
Russian Museum (unfortunately, most recent researchers were unable to locate this notebook).
The first publication about young artist K.Kilpalin named “The Artist from Far Kamchatka” with
illustrations from that notebook was done by M. Genkina and I. Steblich in 1956. Kirill Kilpalin, famous artist (mostly posthumously), became Kamchatka Land’s hero and symbol.
At the end of each “Samorodki” essay, there is a number of poetical verses and its
hero’s artwork. On the cover of her book my mother wrote: “Time has no meaning for the
genuine work of art”.
It seems, it is appropriate to attribute those words to the book itself, as well…
