Sadie loves her Jewish school, and she and her classmates are excited when it�s time for Hanukkah�especially when they learn they�ll be making a menorah for the holiday. However, all of Sadie�s hard work is smashed to bits when she drops the menorah. Mom says that perhaps they can glue it together, but the pieces are too small. Then, an idea! The shammash holder, which holds the candle used to light the others, is still intact. So with a candle brightly shining from it, it�s used to light candles on the family�s several other menorahs come the first night of Hanukkah. The story is told in a sprightly manner, and the watercolor-and-ink artwork is delightful, really capturing the kids, their activities, and finally, the family happiness that results when a problem is well solved
