Nakdimon heard that the Jews had no water to drink when they came to the Beit Hamikdash, so he bought some wells from the Roman governor. Nakdimon said he would repay him with water or money, but when the time came to pay, no rain had fallen. Nakdimon went to the Beit Hamikdash to ask Hashem for help
