On the evening before Passover begins (night following the 13th of Nissan),
the head of the household makes the final holiday preparations by searching for leaven throughout the house.
It is customary to place 10 tightly-wrapped pieces of bread in various places and find it when doing the final search.
Using the candle for guidance and the feather to sweep the bread into the brown bag, the pieces are all located and burned the following morning.
