In this collection the artist Michal Ben David wanted to create a contemporary look yet one that is tied to tradition.
She feels that beauty and practicality create a kind of synergy, it is a pleasure to the eye and soul to wash our hands before meals with a pretty object. There is of course, the practical hygiene, spiritual tradition, and delight to the eye. wanted to bring playfulness, yet to keep it elegant. In creating thet washing cup I designed two different clays entwined together, the stripes on the Natlah are formed as I spin the two different materials on my potter's wheel. Allowing the instant of embrace between the two materials to be as is, each cup comes out differently, one of a kind.
